Today's City Daily Photo theme day is metal, and today is also the one year anniversary of the 35W Bridge Collapse. Structural engineers have been trying to piece back together parts of the fallen bridge on the west bank of the U of M campus since the collapse, here is a view from the bridge by the Educational Sciences building. Incredibly, the new bridge is nearly complete, it may even be done by the time of the RNC at the beginning of September. I guess a quarter billion of federal funding goes a long way... I had a couple other contenders for this theme day that I will post later this week.

That's an very impressive but understated photo. I understand bridge catastrophes. After Hurricane Ivan came through here we had to go through a massive bridge rebuilding on I-10 over Escambia Bay and it affected everything. It was only recently completed.
You know, I don't know if this is very wrong to say, but I'm still grateful that if it had to happen, it happened in the summer and not in Feb, say... Condolences to all affected.
